The freaks come out at night?

How is it that we’re staying in arguably the nicest, most posh hotel in downtown Vancouver, and we get asked twice in the span of 3 hours for money? Grrr. I guess that’s everywhere, though – what are you gonna do? Oh, and while we’re on the topic of random, here’s the pic of my hair. It might look exactly the same to most, but in person you can see the difference, I promise!

As tempting as the fish & chips were at this great pub, I could not pass up the delicious cheddar burger with sauteed mushrooms, English chips, and a fantastic brown honey ale. Ahhhh, I’m a happy girl!
Cass has recently discovered that she does not, in fact, hate beer! She used to be the girl who thought she only liked Hefeweizen and fruity cider drinks, but just found out before we left CA that she likes Newcastle. To me, this means she’s just cracked open the world of beers she’ll like – I remember thinking, once upon a time, that I too wasn’t a beer drinker. And then I met Newcastle….so tonight, the pub was out of Newcastle, which meant Cass had to expand her broadening horizon to try the ale! (I promised her that if she could finish the 20oz glass, it’d put hair on her chest. She liked that – notice the glass is empty!)

And then we met Lliam, a crazy, flamboyant gay man from Alberta who stared at Cass as we came out of the pub & waited for the light to change so we could cross the street. I opened my mouth to bitch at him for staring and he said “love your hair!” I honestly felt like we were in a movie or something, it was hilarious. Then he added, “and your necklace…and your dress! You’re so hot!” This is not the first time she’s experienced random creepy dudes hitting on her out the blue – in fact, she’s used to it. I, however, get annoyed with it easily and feel the need to protect her. Lliam was nice, but extremely dramatic. Finally, he took a picture with Cass like she was a celebrity, then gave us his phone number, email address, and full name (for Facebook, of course!) and we made our getaway…

Now it’s time for a foot soak, a movie, a glass of wine & bed!
